Pink Ribbon Charity Walk
Come share your passion for positive change – each of us makes a difference.
What’s it all about:
Do something for your health and make a charitable contribution at the same time. On the 24th of September, the PWG will again take part in the Pink Ribbon Charity Walk in Switzerland. This year, in celebration of the 10 year anniversary event, we will be present with an official PWG Zürich Team! The 4km long walk/run (depending on your speed) is routed through Letzigrund and the surrounding neighbourhood. Part of the starting fees will be donated to Krebsliga Zurich.
The aim of the event is to increase awareness of breast cancer and to emphasise the importance of early detection. Self-screening can help you to find symptoms that then should be screened by doctor. Although many of us are “aware” of breast cancer, only 15% of women surveyed were able to demonstrate a “full understanding” about breast cancer.
In fact in Switzerland, more than 5,700 women get diagnosed annually with breast cancer – of these, 1,400 lose their fight to the disease every year. Breast cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer for women in Switzerland, and is also the most frequent cause of cancer-related deaths for women in Switzerland.
To save lives, we need to approach the topic in a more friendly and familiar way. The earlier we are aware of the symptoms, the sooner we can take actions for treatment. Let us get together, have fun, stay healthy and walk/run for Krebsliga Zürich.
September 24th, 2.00pm
Letzigrund, Badenerstrasse 500, 8048 Zürich
